Book review: The Most Extraordinary Ordinary Day by Jeanette Bonfiglio. (first reviewed on Readers' Favorite)

The Most Extraordinary Ordinary Day by Jeanette Bonfiglio, illustrated by Shiela Alejandro, shows how a perfectly ordinary day can be turned into an extraordinary one thanks to imagination and to a child’s will to live her life to the full. The main character, Amanda, is a lively and adorable young girl who enjoys every minute of a day turning (in the stories she tells herself) the simplest meal into a feast, turning her humble abode into a castle, her plain regular clothes into the most delightful of sparkling princess gowns, her bath into a glimmering heaven, and so much more. Amanda’s day becomes magical, symbolic of the power of the mind... Its enchantment is essential to transform the daily routine into a fairy tale full of wonderful surprises. And the good thing is it has no bounds: next time maybe Amanda will want to be a great Viking warrior, a taxi driver, a rock star. In a world of fancy, there are no limits, and you never get bored. This book explores the importance of being positive, of enjoying what one has, of not complaining all the time. Amanda is the arch heroine, savoring each part of her ordinary day. She shows how extraordinary it is to her. The author thus studies the importance of dreams, of making life even more beautiful by being aware of all possibilities. When you count your blessings, which Amanda does in her own way, being granted a vivid inventiveness is certainly one. A treasure of a book!
