Book review: Cosmo Faces the Forest of Fear by Amulya Veldanda Vadali. (Reviewed on Reader's Favorite)

Meet Cosmo, the most loving and loyal golden retriever, who goes on exciting adventures all over the world with! One day, when Cosmo and his family are on a hiking trip, things take a turn for the worse. Cosmo must face his darkest fears to travel through the forest and save the day. The story conveys the idea that being brave isn't about being fearless. Rather, it's about standing up to one's fears.

Cosmo Faces the Forest of Fear is a rhyming picture book for ages 5-10 that incorporates ideas about the importance of family, love, determination, and courage into the most fun and exciting story! Younger children will enjoy looking at the pictures, children from ages 5-6 will enjoy following along with the story, and children from ages 7-10 will love reading the rhymes and alliteration!

There is also a fun activity for children included in the back of the book!

 

Amulya Veldanda Vadali

is an author from New Jersey. She received her B.S/M.S in Biomedical Engineering and is currently an R&D Scientist in a biotech company. Although her academic background and career are in the sciences, she has always had a passion for reading and writing. Ever since she was little, she could fill countless books with her poems, short stories, and musings. It was always her dream to someday publish her stories and she is finally making that happen! The inspiration for her stories comes from her golden retriever, Cosmo, who teaches her something new every day about the importance of family, love, patience, empathy, and courage. The irony is that Amulya herself used to be terrified of dogs. But she was able to face her fears and today she is the biggest dog-lover! Through her stories, Amulya hopes to share some of these important concepts with her young readers, while also making them laugh and love the journey!

My review

Cosmo Faces the Forest of Fear by Amulya Veldanda Vadali is an adorable picture book for children aged 5 to 10. It features gorgeous colors, drawings, bright and lovely landscapes. It is a short but delightful story, in which the pictures enhance the main themes, ranging from heroic deeds to family life, friendship, courage, fear, love, and so much more...It is beautifully written, it even rhymes, making it perfect for being read aloud to even younger children. It is indeed incredibly poetic. It is the story of a golden puppy who is adopted by a family of four. It is hard at first, as Cosmo is a young and silly puppy who keeps peeing in the family’s home, and loves biting things, but the family is patient and when he is one, they all go on vacation in the grand forest mountains up in the north. Nice, but extremely dangerous, as you will understand when you read this great story! Cosmo shows us how being clever and courageous is a perfect combination to defeat the strong and terrible feline who threatened his family and himself! I particularly enjoyed the activity and questions. How lovely to provide extra activities once the book has been read!
