Why is it so important to help students improve their 21st-century skills?

Why am I focusing on 21st-century skills in my teaching?

Firstly, 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity are essential in today's rapidly changing and technology-driven world. 

Secondly, helping students improve these skills will prepare them better for university and their future lives. 

Thirdly, 21st-century skills are essential for active and informed citizenship. Students who possess skills such as critical thinking and media literacy will be better equipped to navigate the complex issues of the 21st century, make informed decisions, and not be fooled by fake news.

Lastly, 21st-century skills are crucial for personal growth and development. By developing these skills, students will become more creative and resilient.

For instance, when my students made collaborative podcasts with their Italian and German partners during the pandemic, the project included the following:
