Publisher's presentation

Enjoy the adventures of a fun-loving squirrel family who join an all-animal forest circus. They learn that animals of different colors and sizes can have fun together, and their confidence in themselves grows by practicing their circus arts—important lessons for children ages 2 to 8.

My review (Originally published on Reader's Favorite)

The Adventurous Squirrels of Cool Waters Cove by Steven Whysel is divinely illustrated by Quinn Chavez. This short picture book for children aged 2 to 8 years old is both entertaining and engaging. It is made up of two chapters displaying all the regular daily life activities of very young children (going to bed, eating, having one’s best meal prepared by one’s loving mum, putting on clothes, sleeping, and so on) while portraying the adventures of a delightful squirrel family. It embarks us on the squirrel family feats in Poppy’s amazing animal circus, highlighting all the fun of daily life activities. Everything the two little squirrels and their parents do is actually both quite foreign to what our children experience and extremely similar to their daily lives. That is what I loved about this appealing fable: what you see is not exactly everything there is, you need to dig deeper to understand the message of the author: enjoy your lives, however boring they might seem, because keeping that sense of wonder that young children inherently have is vital (especially nowadays in these times of crisis). I am certain that children will cheer loudly (as the characters did in the story) when they read this sweet and captivating story.
