Book review: My Awareness Book by Diana Smith.

Publisher's presentation

Join two young children as they journey through childhood, growing their understanding and awareness of themselves. Come along as they learn how to speak their personal truths, understand their feelings and actions, and figure out their place in the world.

My Awareness Book teaches your child how to have a positive mindset, build mental resilience and identify and regulate their emotions, all important skills for a young mind to master.

Beautifully illustrated with simple rhyming prose, this book is the perfect story to help a child feel supported and understood as they grow and learn. An easy read, My Awareness Book invites broader and deeper discussions with your child, enabling them to continue to move confidently towards adulthood, with empathetic direction and positive guidance.

With links to increased success across a variety of settings, including academic, social and emotional areas, children who have self-regulating skills, with a secure understanding of their place in the world, have a more positive attitude about themselves and those around them, including their peers, mentors and family members, than those with less social or emotional learning. They are more likely to reach out for support when required, make responsible decisions for themselves and achieve set goals.

My Awareness Book helps contribute to an early foundation of social and emotional learning, using age-appropriate language to help children understand basic relationship concepts like patience, acceptance, and empathy. My review (Originally published on Reader's Favorite)

My Awareness Book by Diana Smith is an adorable children’s book that will allow parents and teachers alike to discuss self-confidence with children. All the issues tackled in this amazing work are linked with feeling bad about oneself. This opus does not only give advice and positive interpretations, but it also shows how unimportant the problems that bother them actually are! All through my child's youth, I kept telling him: “It’s all right, it’s not a problem, we will find a solution.” I wish I had had this fabulous book to help me teach him to better put things into perspective! A book promoting trust, self-love, self-confidence which, unfortunately, are dearly lacking for so many children and teenagers, is a must-read.  In times when violence, despair, and feelings of helplessness seem to gain ground and even, too often, prevail, here is real hope to prepare a better world. If we want adults to be capable of showing empathy, respect, and inner strength, our little ones need to be protected, encouraged, and accompanied on the right paths. It starts early and it is truly worth it. Thank you so much to the author and the illustrator for sharing such a treasure!
